Overview
- Bollgard 3® Cotton crops that are not defoliated by the end of March are required to undertake mechanical pupae control as part of their RMP (excluding Central Queensland)
- Wet & cold conditions necessitating later sowing and areas facing increased erosion risks may be eligible for exemption of mechanical control of overwintering larvae and can remain compliant by opting in for 'Attract and Kill' option through Bayer's MTRACK system.
- Magnet can remove moths that lay eggs which in turn become larvae that pupate in the soil, and go into diapause at the end of the season.
- 'Attract and Kill' option requires three aerial applications of Magnet to the cotton crop no earlier than the 10th of February and no later than the 1st of March
- Cotton growers considering Magnet 'Attract and Kill' as an alternative pupae destruction option should consult their local Bayer Cotton Territory Business Manager if outside the Lachlan, Murrumbidgee, Menindee, Murray, and Upper Namoi Valley
- Supply may be limited, all advisors and growers considering this option are encouraged to forecast expected areas during planting audits.
